The catalogue of the Archaeological Museum of the Samarkand State University named after Sharaf Rashidov provides an insight into the many years of fieldwork and research carried out by its staff. This website is a continuation of the work to open up the rich archaeological collection of the university to a wider audience through the documentation and publication of artefacts.
The project to create a catalogue and popularise this collection was supported by the Institute of Archaeology, University College London (UCL) and the International Institute for Central Asian Studies. The work was funded by the Central Asian Archaeological Landscapes (CAAL) project, implemented thanks to the Liesbeth Rausing and Peter Baldwin Arcadia Charitable Foundation.
